Privacy Policy

We collect almost nothing, and we tell you exactly what

Privacy at Texel Tales

Texel Tales is a small independent journal. We do not sell data. We do not run advertising. We have no commercial interest in tracking what you read. This policy explains exactly what personal data we handle, when we handle it, and how to ask us to delete it.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this website and journal is the editorial team of Texel Tales, registered in Den Helder, the Netherlands. You can reach the controller at privacy@teso.buzz or by post at Prins Hendrikkade 14, 1782 KE Den Helder.

2. What we collect

We collect personal data only when you give it to us, voluntarily, through one of these three channels:

3. What we don't collect

We do not collect or store IP addresses on our application servers beyond what our hosting provider records temporarily for security purposes. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or behavioural analytics. We do not fingerprint your browser. We do not enrich your data from external sources.

4. Why we use your data

We use the data above only for the purpose you gave it to us:

We do not use your data for any other purpose, and we do not transfer it to third parties except where strictly necessary to deliver the service you asked for (for example, sharing your postal address with the printer who fulfils subscriptions, under a written processor agreement).

5. How long we keep your data

Contact form messages and replies are kept for two years after our last exchange, then deleted. Subscriber records are kept for as long as you are a subscriber, plus the seven-year retention period that Dutch tax law requires for invoices. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which the email address is removed within thirty days.

6. Where your data lives

All personal data is stored on servers located in the European Union, operated by a hosting provider under standard EU data-processing terms. Email addresses are processed through an EU-based email provider. Backups are encrypted at rest.

7. Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right, at any time, to:

To make any of these requests, write to privacy@teso.buzz. We will reply within one calendar month.

8. Children

This journal is intended for adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under sixteen. If you believe a child has shared data with us, please write to us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new effective date. If the change is substantive — for example, if we ever started using a new processor — we will email everyone on our newsletter and subscriber lists at least thirty days before the change takes effect.

10. Contact for privacy questions

Any question about privacy can be addressed to privacy@teso.buzz or, by post, to the editorial address on our contact page.
